The epoxy based products often do not have the same high luster of porcelain and the finish often has a lot of dust particles trapped below the surface that are easily visible and can be felt. With time the area around the drain is usually the first to fail. Re-porcelainizing, involving rebaking on a new finish, is the only way to go, if you simply must save the existing tub. Buying a new tub is the easiest by far.
