Compression faucet

Do you know something we've forgotten? Share it with the rest of the Kitchen and Bath Ideas community by using the EasyEdit button!

This is the original style of faucet. They are typically found in old homes and updated versions are found in new homes to this day. They are usually the least expensive and most prone to leaks and maintenance. They are identifiable by their separate hot and cold water handles and their action requiring you to tighten the handles down to close off the water flow. Compression faucets work by using a compression stem, a type of glorified screw with a washer at the end of it pressing against a valve seat.

Have a kitchen or bath faucet you love? Have one you'd recommend to friends? Let us know what you think about your faucet here.
